Rev. Sameul Ripley as William Emerson's half brother (uncle of Ralph Waldo Emerson).

Comments:
Parents: William Emerson and Ruth born 4th of 8 kids (brothers named Charles and William) father died in 1811 Sister to his father: Aunt Mary Moody Emerson (unmarried) Uncle Rev. Samuel Ripley (father's HALF brother)
First Married: Ellen Louisa Tucker who died 18 months later of tuberculosis. In 1835 married Lydia (Lydian) Jackson and had 4 children (the eldest, Waldo, was lost at age 5). The others were Ellen, Edith, Edward Waldo.
I can find no link between Ralph Waldo Emerson (Lincolnshire England) and Melch Emmerson (Yorkshire England)
